Lorain County Transit to provide rides for Erie County DD at $30 per trip; funds used as grant match

The board on Aug. 11 approved a six-month, retroactive agreement (July 20–Dec. 31) for Lorain County Transit to provide transportation services for the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities at a rate of $30 per trip. County staff said Erie County DD will pay Lorain County Transit and that the funds will generate local match for federal or state grants, including an ODOT application to provide public transportation to Vermilion.
"We're using our regular fleet bus to provide the service," a county staff member said when asked whether dial-a-ride vehicles would be used. Staff described the arrangement as a way to produce local match dollars to support future grant-funded transit expansion. Commissioners voted to approve the agreement.
