Amaresco outlines $2.9M Green School upgrade; committee to forward amendment for full approval

Dan Smith of Amaresco presented an amendment and project plan to upgrade the Green School after the district won a Mass Clean Energy Center award. Amaresco said the grant is roughly $2.9 million and that the project uses the district's enabling 25A procurement vehicle, which the presenter said complies with Massachusetts procurement law and avoids a direct tax appropriation.
“We've been able to deliver approximately $30,000,000 worth of work over the past 10 phases,” Dan Smith said, and he added the district would see “a 60% reduction in energy spend for that building alone.” The firm described a timeline that begins final engineering and OER review ahead of anticipated construction in April of next year and completion in summer 2027; the subcommittee voted to refer the amendment to the full committee for a vote on Aug. 19.
