Council moves forward on multiple property condemnations, gives owners 30 days in two cases

Tangipahoa Parish Council approved several condemnation-related actions on July 27, including adoption of T.P. Resolution No. R26-21 to move forward with condemnation proceedings for a structure at 41226 Julia Weathersby Ave, Ponchatoula (Assessment #4618300, District 8). The resolution was adopted on a motion by Strader Cieutat, seconded by David Vial; roll call recorded YEA votes from Sinagra, Ingraffia, Joseph, Havis, Ridgel, Mayeaux, Vial, Hyde and Cieutat (Wells absent).
The council also addressed multiple condemnation hearings in Hammond. For 17031 Ennis Lane (Assessment #1929208, District 7) the council gave the owner 30 days to demolish the structure (motion by Joey Mayeaux, seconded by David Vial). At 17039 East Hanson Ave (Assessment #1713507, District 7) property owner Edward Williams requested time to inspect the structure to determine if repairs were possible; the council approved giving him 30 days to decide whether to repair or demolish the property (motion by Mr. Mayeaux, seconded by Mr. Joseph). No members of the public spoke on those condemnation items at the meeting.
