Planning board extends Spring Street time clock, pushes review to October

The Tiverton Planning Board on Aug. 4 unanimously extended the application time clock for the Spring Street major modification to Oct. 31 and continued the hearing to a future meeting.
Attorney Matthew Landry, representing the applicant, told the board the team is coordinating engineering specifications with Fall River and has withdrawn its formal request to make the new road a public street. "I did submit a letter to the board withdrawing our request formally to make this a public street, post approval," Landry said, adding that the change narrows the number of waivers the applicant needs and limits relief to improvements to a paper street under the zoning ordinance.
Landry said the applicant is awaiting drainage calculations and design details from Fall River and asked for more time for interjurisdictional coordination. Engineer Bill Smith said Fall River had requested additional soil testing and that coordination now makes it likely Fall River's review will occur after Tiverton's September meeting. The board moved to extend the time clock and to continue the hearing; the motion carried unanimously.
Chair Cheryl Valentine told the applicant to coordinate materials in advance with the land-use clerk so the board could review submissions ahead of the next meeting. No final decision was made; the board set October as the target for the project's next appearance.
