The Antis Township Board of Supervisors and representatives of Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company and Excelsior Fire Company agreed on a timetable for merger talks following an executive session at a special meeting on Jan. 16, 2026. Board Chairman George Bell said progress should be made before the February meeting and a merger agreement should be completed by the March board meeting.
The board and Pinecroft resolved that Pinecroft's financial accounts will be transferred to a neutral third party to safeguard assets while negotiations continue. Bell warned that if a signed agreement is not reached, “the nuclear option will need to be done,” a reference to decertification as a last resort. No formal public vote on decertification occurred at the meeting; Resolution No. 3 (2026), listed on the agenda, was not adopted during the session.
