Mike Augustine of Shawnee County Human Resources outlined the ceremony and photo procedures and thanked staff. "So, you know, being a public servant isn't always in the limelight," Augustine said as the county honored milestones ranging from five to 50 years of service.
Employees recognized for five- and 10-year milestones included staff from the election office, motor vehicle, corrections, parks and recreation, the treasurer's office and solid waste; longer milestones and retirements were announced by department directors during the program. The formal program concluded with group photographs and remarks from department heads and commissioners.
The commissioners opened the public comment period but had no speakers signed up. After brief administrative communications, the chair said there was no need for the scheduled executive session and adjourned the meeting.
