Neighbors tell Bronxville board: don’t approve Iona field until noise is enforceable

Maria Sigourney, a 37 North Road resident speaking on behalf of more than 137 neighbors, told the planning board that approving the project as presented would conflict with Bronxville's noise rules and that promises of later mitigation are insufficient. "This board can not lawfully approve this project as proposed," she said, urging the board to require enforceable restrictions — including no amplified public-address use — before any approval.
Other neighbors echoed those concerns. Susan Salerno of Orchard Place said she was worried that overflow parking could push cars into adjacent residential streets and asked whether the sound study used times that matched actual game and batting-practice hours. "So please don't use that as overflow traffic or overflow parking," Salerno said, asking the board to spell out how parking and traffic would be enforced during events.
Board members acknowledged the concerns and said they would require noise limitations and monitoring as part of site-plan conditions. Several members suggested that approval of any permanent PA system should be deferred until the university demonstrates operational stewardship and successful management of traffic and noise.
