A committee member told colleagues the Affordable Housing Trust has asked the Barnstable County Housing Office to assess the Affordable Homes Act bond and develop a plan to ensure Cape towns secure funding.
"The affordable housing trust... wants to have the regional Barnstable County Housing Office look at that affordable homes act and figure out a plan for all 15 towns on The Cape to kinda make sure that The Cape is getting those those funds," the committee member said. Members said the bond is a multibillion-dollar source for housing funds but that distribution and qualification details remain unclear for seasonal communities.
The committee agreed to follow up with the director of community development and to prepare data that might support a regional pilot application; members noted the need to clarify which towns are eligible and how funding flows to seasonal versus year-round communities.
