Board hears strategic-plan timeline; community engagement to begin in September

Dr. Lowe presented a high-level timeline to begin a year-long strategic-planning process for the district. He said board training and a retreat would kick off the work this month, community engagement nights would begin in September, and the district would run a community survey alongside accreditation work. "Our goal would be somewhere, in early spring for us to share, for us to share, kind of with our community going forward as to what the next strategic plan is," he said.
Dr. Lowe said the district is partnering with the Carl Vinson Institute and the University of Georgia to guide the work. He described a late-November strategic-planning summit that will include school representatives, civic and faith-based partners and five at-large seats (each board member may appoint one at-large representative). The board will use community feedback to form action and accountability plans in early spring and finalize a five-year strategic plan for district operations.
