Shannon, who joined the meeting as host, told trustees that Town Council confirmed donations marked for a specific fund must remain with that fund. "Town Council confirmed that if people mark their donation for a specific fund that they need to be kept that way," Shannon said, and repeated that designated funds "cannot" be moved.
Trustees noted the policy constrains internal flexibility: donations that are earmarked for a named purpose cannot be repurposed for property-tax relief without donor permission or a separate appeal. The limit led trustees to discuss whether to run a separate targeted appeal for property-tax relief this fall instead of redirecting existing designated funds.
