Committee pins down YRBS, Panorama and DESE metrics as core inputs for climate reviews

Committee members reviewed a list of candidate data sources for the framework: Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), Panorama survey data, METCO family midyear check-ins and DESE academic indicators such as MCAS. One member asked whether survey results should be analyzed at the cohort (grade) level to follow students over time: "Are we, saying this is what the results look like for the entire student population, or this is what it looked like, say, for the 5th graders and now 6th graders?" the member asked.
A staff member confirmed Panorama can be disaggregated by grade: "Panorama, we can break out by grade level." Members cautioned that screener data used for crisis response is not meant for aggregation and should not be treated as population-level mental-health metrics.
The working group agreed to collect full data packets for each source when available so members can analyze trends and identify groups needing additional attention.
