Working group to recommend climate-and-culture monitoring framework for 2026–27

The Chair opened the meeting by saying the working group’s task is to produce a recommended framework — not policy — to guide routine monitoring and evaluation of school climate for the 2026–27 school year. "The working group's deliverable is a recommended framework, not policy that specifies the structure, data, metrics, indicators, and cadence of these reviews," the Chair said.
Members discussed process and timing, emphasizing the framework should identify which data sources and indicators the district will review and how often. A committee member said the group should focus on progress toward aligned goals (superintendent goals, school-committee goals and school-improvement-plan goals) and use those aligned goals as inputs; the working group would treat the measurable progress as the indicator. The group agreed the draft framework will be shared with the full school committee in August for feedback and the goal is to have a recommendable proposal by the Sept. 9 joint meeting.
