Commission approves rear addition at Wyckoff Street row house with refinements requested

Architect Douglas Gauthier presented the proposal for the modified Italianate row house at 145 Wyckoff Street and said the project responds to existing additions in the 'donut' and will retain compatible materials. He noted the block has fewer than 50% rear additions, which triggers review. The Historic Districts Council (Emma Bartley) called the addition "modest in scale and generally appropriate" but suggested the applicant reconsider balcony guard details to better align with neighboring metalwork.

Commissioners discussed visibility and materials, agreed the addition would not be visible from public thoroughfares, and approved the application with staff to work with the applicant on guardrail details and an access agreement for underpinning where necessary.
