Town holds train station charrette; public planning sessions scheduled Aug. 7 report-out

Exeter’s economic development director announced a Train Station Charrette that brought volunteer planners, architects and engineers to study the train station and surrounding Lincoln Street area. Staff said a 17‑person team would walk the site, meet with property owners and businesses, and create draft ideas for the neighborhood.
The charrette schedule includes a community planning session with two public sessions (3:00–4:30 p.m. and 6:00–7:30 p.m.) followed by a public presentation of the plan the next day. Board members praised the turnout — staff estimated nearly 100 participants across the public sessions — and said recordings will be posted by Exeter TV and the town website.
Board members encouraged broad public input and noted the charrette will inform longer-term planning for the station area; staff said the volunteer team will use the public’s input to prepare a draft plan for the community to review.
