The town reported an estimated 2027 highway block grant allocation from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation of $325,564.99. Staff said the amount is made up of $289,246.57 in regular highway block grant aid plus $36,318 in additional highway funding attributed to Senate Bill 367.
Officials explained that highway block grant aid is calculated primarily on population and the mileage of locally maintained Class 4 and Class 5 roads and that the funds are restricted to eligible construction, reconstruction and maintenance of those roads. The allocation is expected to be distributed in four installments (approximately $97,000 in July, $97,000 in October, $65,000 in January and $65,000 in April), though staff noted those estimates are subject to adjustment after the state audits highway revenues later in the year.
No board action was requested; staff said the allocation will be part of continuing budget discussions and the town will update the Select Board should figures change.
