Select Board backs "7 to Save" nomination for Park Street Bridge
Summary
Residents nominated the Park Street Bridge to the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance's 'Seven to Save'; the Select Board voted 4–0 to support the nomination and to authorize a letter of support to accompany the submission.
Resident petitioner Mark Furlong told the board he submitted a nomination to the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance’s "Seven to Save" program on a short deadline and asked for Select Board support to strengthen the nomination.
"I think it's one of the strangest pieces of legislation I've ever seen come out of Concord," Furlong said in public comment when earlier discussing House Bill 1300; later he framed the bridge nomination as an advocacy step to raise awareness and help the site become eligible for tailored assistance and priority grant opportunities. The Select Board moved, seconded and voted to support the nomination and to authorize a letter of support; the chair announced the motion passed 4–0.
Board members said they would provide a letter and that staff would coordinate the submission. The board asked petitioner Furlong to provide contact details and materials for Town Manager Paul Cohen to forward to the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance.
