Johnsburg Central School plans June 13 centennial celebration, historical marker to be unveiled

Heather Flanagan, building principal at Johnsford Central School, described plans for a centennial celebration of the original brick building constructed in 1925. The event is scheduled for Friday, June 13 and will run from approximately 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with free food, alumni music, a history display produced with the Johnsburg Historical Society and a historical marker supplied by the Pomeroy Foundation.
"Friday, June 13 is our, centennial celebration for 100 years of the original building that sits on the hill," Flanagan said, outlining student involvement (food prep by family-and-consumer-science classes, National Honor Society–led tours) and activities for children. The marker will be unveiled near the older wooden sign on the hill and organizers invited board members and the public to attend.
Flanagan reviewed the building’s additions over the decades and said the school’s historical committee and the historical society are compiling exhibits and research to display on the 13th. The board thanked Flanagan and encouraged members to attend the celebration.
