Town officials moved through a set of operational resolutions covering equipment, staffing and park improvements.
The board authorized replacing a damaged enclosed cargo trailer (insurance proceeds to be used) and approved a budget appropriation to allocate an insurance recovery of $6,493 to the parks equipment line. The board also recognized rehiring of seasonal staff for the Department of Public Property and Programs (cemetery maintenance, seasonal parks labor and recreation specialists/lifeguards) as positions included in the 2025 budget.
Separately, the board reviewed and authorized a resolution for the Director of Public Property and Programs to use unspent ARPA funds for two town-park projects: installation of retractable awnings on both sides of the North Pavilion at Riverfront Park to increase covered space for renters and the farmers market, and removal of wooden bleachers at McArdle and Sodom fields in favor of aluminum bleachers that are lower maintenance and movable. The ARPA use was presented as a way to deploy unspent funds before sunsets and to support community recreation and event resilience.
