Statewide transcript proposal could standardize how competencies are recorded, district told

Mr. Sloane told the board the state is discussing a "standardized statewide transcript" that could include the portrait competencies so districts document the same categories and measures. "They're also discussing potentially putting the different competencies of a portrait of graduate on that transcript to outline things a little bit more," he said.
He said districts currently design their own transcripts and that the state's proposal aims to make transcript entries consistent across New York to help transfer students and outside reviewers compare credentials. Mr. Sloane said Jericho chose its transcript format and that the district will watch for state guidance on how competencies should appear if the proposal advances.
