The Okawville Board of Trustees on Jan. 26 adopted Ordinance No. 616, changing the police uniform allowance to a $500 stipend for full-time officers, paid annually in January. Trustee Scott Cragen moved the ordinance; Trustee Brett Heberer seconded. At roll call, five trustees voted yes and Trustee Kevin Kink abstained.
The minutes state part-time officers "will be outfitted with necessary items or given a stipend on an as-needed basis." The board did not record a dollar figure for part-time stipends. The police department will need to coordinate payroll changes so the stipend is paid in January going forward.
