Okawville trustees approve ordinances, TIF projects and multiple motions; votes at a glance

Key formal actions included passage of Ordinance No. 616 to change the police uniform allowance to a $500 annual stipend for full-time officers (Trustees Cragen, Davis, Dick, Heberer and Parker voted yes; Trustee Kink abstained) and passage of Ordinance No. 615 to repeal the Hotel/Motel tax effective Feb. 1, 2026 (unanimous). The board also approved multiple TIF applications and project payments: an 80/20 (TIF/WSOM) split for a sewer line repair contract, water-main replacement projects on Walnut, Nashville, S Sparta and S Front streets, sewer pump replacements at the Riechmann Lift Station, an addition for Okawville Body Works, and a village storm-drain project.
Other formal items: the board appointed Danny Aubrecht to the Zoning Board of Appeals to replace Albert Moeller (roll call: yes 5, abstain 1), hired Catchy Cleans LLC for biweekly Village Hall cleaning at $175 per cleaning (6–0), accepted the treasurer's report and approved payment of bills (6–0), and adjourned at 7:57 p.m. The board also voted to terminate village attorney Alvin Paulson and to hire attorney David Schneidewind effective immediately (yes 5, abstain 1).
