Okawville trustees split on TIF requests; Weeke Automation and village sewer project approved
Summary

The trustees discussed Tax Increment Financing (TIF) guidelines and considered multiple applications. A motion to approve Top Ag’s solar array at 702 Elevator St failed 0–6. Trustees then considered RuJan (606 N Front St) for a new roof; that motion failed 2–4. The board unanimously approved a TIF application for Weeke Automation at 605 N Front St to add commercial space, and approved a village TIF request for a sewer project at Twelfth St and Illinois St across Front St with a recorded vote of 4 yes, 1 no and 1 abstention.
Trustees debated whether private projects (Top Ag) increased property value and whether applicants had sufficient funds; the minutes record Trustee Parker initiating several TIF motions and the roll‑call votes for each application. Additional TIF project discussions were tabled to the January meeting because some items were not on the agenda.
