Hahn said the pilot would train ER physicians to conduct LPS evaluations "by the end of this year" at the five highest utilizers named in the motion (Pomona Valley, Providence Saint John's in Santa Monica, UCI Health in Lakewood, Providence Little Company of Mary in Torrance, and UCLA West Valley). Supervisor Mitchell and advocacy groups urged careful training, oversight and documentation to protect patient rights. The board voted to implement the pilot and requested a report back on training, protocols and expansion plans.
