City staff told the Board of Aldermen the survey will be used directly in the strategic planning process and in departmental work sessions. "We will use this information to form some of the conversations and questions and things that we'll be looking at as part of that process," staff member (speaker 1) said, adding that staff are meeting with department directors to review the open‑ended responses and identify priority areas for follow‑up.
Staff highlighted communication gaps identified by the survey. Speaker 1 reminded the board that "most people get the newsletter with their water bill," but that some multi‑unit or landlord‑paid accounts do not receive the mailed newsletter. As a result, staff said they make hand deliveries to some properties and post copies at city hall to reach those residents. The board directed staff to consider the newsletter distribution and to bring possible options and cost estimates forward during the budget process.
Staff said the survey's neutral responses on several topics present an opportunity for better public information campaigns and that findings will be folded into the strategic planning vendor work and into upcoming budget discussions.
