Commissioners reject outside employee‑benefits proposals; county to rely on TAC for now

Misty Sims, the purchasing agent, told the court the committee recommended rejecting the proposals because consultant costs were high and the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) offering appeared comparable to market rates. Sims said open enrollment will be held Nov. 4–5 and representatives from Nationwide, Aflac and a new life‑insurance vendor will be present. The court approved the recommendation to reject the bids and noted staff will circulate rate information to employees when it is ready.
