Boyle County homeless coordinator reports 127 intakes, seeks donations for housing push

Bryce Gibson, Boyle County's homeless coordinator, updated the Fiscal Court on the county's outreach and housing work and appealed for community support.
"We've got a 127 intakes done as of today," Gibson said, reporting that roughly 38% of that caseload has been in the county less than a year and that the coalition has housed approximately 20 people in the last four to five months. He said 62% of clients have lived in the county at least two years, and that many placements require deposits or first/last months' rent that clients cannot cover.
Gibson described the coalition's food and supply efforts — including meal kits that used to yield about 75 kits for $400 and now produce about 40 — and said the group maintains a Boyle County Homeless Coalition Amazon wish list and PayPal account for donations. He told the court the coalition recently rented a storage unit to stock emergency tent kits and thanked the court for prior funding, which he said was critical to the upcoming housing initiative.
Gibson urged residents and local organizations to donate food, supplies or financial support; he said the coalition is planning a housing placement project and anticipates the first participants moving in roughly 60 days, although a final facility location has not been secured.
