The Patrick County Board of Supervisors recognized Larry and Margaret Vernon as the June 2026 Patrick County Partner at the June 8 meeting. The proclamation saluted their decades-long work with the Lord's Acre Committee and the Penny House, citing nearly 30 years of service and more than 100 families assisted; it noted the Penny House moved from a long-term lease to permanent ownership in 2022.
Board Chair Andrew Overby presented the proclamation. The Board adopted the proclamation to honor the couple's volunteer leadership in housing, medication assistance for seniors, employment help for neighbors and transportation support, calling their work a lasting community contribution.
