Eric Luther, general manager of Tallgrass Liquor, presented the store's 2025 year-end report to the Marshall City Council, reporting roughly $7.2 million in overall sales and income before transfers around $1.25 million. Luther gave a category breakdown — roughly 42% of sales from beer, 40% from spirits and about 12% from wine — and described trends driving recent changes in sales mix.
Luther said, "My name is Eric Luther and liquor operations manager at Tallgrass Liquor," and summarized store performance: "overall sales for tall grass liquor operation was about 7,200,000 or 7.190 with income before tax or income income before transfers about 1,250,000." He also noted a decrease of about "$228,004.54" compared with 2024 and said the store brought in "Approximately about $50,000" from the online ordering platform in 2025. Luther told the council he expects ready-to-drink cocktails and spirits to continue driving growth and outlined proposed store enhancements including additional surveillance cameras, landscaping, flooring replacement and a market-style layout.
Council members asked operational questions about loss and theft; Luther said the store has systems in place to monitor shrink but acknowledged some loss. The council received the report; subsequent agenda items addressed new cooler merchandisers and fixture quotes tied to the store's merchandising strategy.
