Bay County authorizes RFP for exterior maintenance of county building

The Bay County Board of Commissioners authorized release of a request for proposals (RFP) for exterior maintenance of the Bay County building at the Aug. 11 meeting.
Recreation and facilities staff outlined the scope the county seeks in bids: tuckpointing, caulking and sealing windows, testing methods for limestone cleaning (and sealing if cleaning is successful), and other exterior repairs. "We are seeing things, where water is coming into the building, and we need to really shore that up," the facilities speaker said, noting the county has no record of exterior work since window replacements in the late 1980s.
Staff said they are coordinating with finance and purchasing to broaden outreach so qualified firms in larger metro areas (for example, Detroit or Grand Rapids) will see the RFP. The board moved, supported and approved the RFP release with no recorded opposition.
