The Granbury City Council adopted Ordinance No. 26-53, approving a comprehensive plan amendment requested by Mark Franco to reclassify roughly 84 acres at 5500 Discovery from retail/office and low-density residential to industrial. Community Development Director Cody Nolan told the Planning & Zoning Commission and council that the property already contains an industrial manufacturing use established prior to annexation and that the application proposes two additional buildings and site improvements. "So this is 84 acres. It is currently zoned interim holding," Nolan said while describing the comp-plan change and the parcel’s prior use.
City staff said they mailed 10 notices to property owners within 200 feet, published notice in the Hood County News and posted signage; staff reported zero letters in favor or against and recommended approval. The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval, and the council voted 6–0 to adopt the comprehensive plan amendment. The change updates the city’s long-range land-use designation for the parcel and clears the way for later site-plan review under the proposed Planned Development overlay.
