The commission approved a transient room tax (TRT) expenditure of $100,000 for an event marketing agreement with Trail Hero, an off-roading organization that will host a week-long Trail Hero event at Legacy Park in late September–early October. Tourism staff said the event draws more than 2,000 registered participants and that organizers reported roughly $8.5 million in economic impact during the prior year.
"This is a marketing agreement that we have with them to continue to push off-roading throughout the whole year and not just for this week-long event," the tourism presenter said, adding that Trail Hero will still lease Legacy Park and pay facility fees. Commissioners discussed the event's size, community benefits, and prior economic figures, then moved and approved the resolution to expend TRT funds to support marketing.
Staff said the agreement focuses on promoting responsible trail use and year-round visitation; the county will monitor metrics and continued community impact.
