The Smithville City Council voted unanimously to adopt bill 3096, an ordinance enacting a new municipal code section (chapter 6.25.080) pertaining to short-term rentals.
Miss Wagner read the ordinance text for the record as the bill advanced through first and second readings. The motion to adopt passed on a recorded procedural vote and the ordinance was read aloud at the meeting.
Council members debated the item only briefly in procedural fashion and moved the measure forward on a 6-0 vote. The council later passed a separate resolution temporarily suspending density limits on short-term rentals (see separate coverage).
