A committee member told the Depoe Bay emergency preparedness meeting she has completed checks on five of the city's emergency supply barrels and expects to finish the remaining four within the month as part of the six-month inspection cycle.
"So it's time to do the because we do it every 6 months. And so I have done 5 of them. I have 4 to go," the Committee member reported, describing the inspections to confirm barrels remain in place and supplies are intact.
Members discussed how caches integrate with neighborhood response plans and noted that Depoe Bay's population can swell with tourists; one member said preparedness must account for both residents and transient visitors. The committee also discussed signage and the possibility of large caches in five isolated areas to support many people during an event.
The group agreed to continue mapping neighborhoods and to coordinate barrel info with the City Hall emergency-preparedness flyers and county resources so residents and property owners know where to locate supplies.
