Chief Oregon outlined the request and said the city has equipment available and that the uniform shirt and hat will be paid from the parking fund. "The funding will come from, the enterprise parking account," the chief said. He told the committee the position would provide seven‑day coverage and said the department had interviewed candidates and had one in mind. The chief also noted that Alex Mancheski, a night CSO, became a full‑time officer on July 6, creating the current opening.
Committee members voiced support for the CSO role as an "unsung" but vital part of the department’s operations. The motion to approve the hire and funding (mover: Olson; second: Donahue) carried unanimously. The committee adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
