The Village of Olympia Fields is transitioning portions of its public-safety operations and exploring electric vehicle infrastructure.
President Pro Tem Kelvin Oliver and Administrator Jessica Washington reported the Village has switched to Cook County for police 911 dispatch and will adopt RAVE and Cook County’s SMART911 features. Finance Director Lisa Fifer-Smith said the Code Red contract remains in effect through April 2026. Chief Derrick Blasingame and Building Commissioner John McDonnell met with a representative of American Energy Group to discuss installation of electric vehicle charging stations; the Village plans to pursue grants to offset installation costs and expects fuel savings with hybrid vehicles of about 30% on gas.
