The Jourdanton Independent School District Board of Trustees voted July 14 to accept the resignation of Trustee Kristi Schulte, effective June 12, 2025, and to appoint Mike Castellano to represent District 2.
"I move to accept the resignation of School Board Trustee, Kristi Schulte, as of June 12, 2025 as presented and appoint Mike Castellano to represent District 2 in her place," Trustee Nicole Rakowitz said when making the motion. The board reconvened from executive session at 7:56 p.m. and approved the motion on a recorded vote (Yea: 6; Nay: 0; Absent: 1). The minutes record the vote roll-call names and the passing tally.
The appointment followed an executive session discussion the board held under Texas Government Code provisions for personnel matters. The minutes state the board considered the possible resignation and appointment during a closed session called at 6:10 p.m. No additional public remarks on the appointment were recorded in the meeting minutes.
President Barbara Peeler adjourned the meeting at 7:56 p.m. after the vote. The minutes list routine superintendent personnel updates under the superintendent’s report; the minutes indicate resignations and new hires were documented but do not provide personnel details in the public portion of the minutes.
