Board minutes show the village framed the resolution as a local contribution to broader state and regional housing needs and said the measures aim to increase housing access, support accessible housing for people with sensory and mobility disabilities, and bring economic opportunities. The resolution cites environmental and public‑health benefits of infill development and the legal importance of affirmatively furthering fair housing.
The measure passed on a unanimous roll-call vote (4-0). The resolution does not change local zoning immediately; the pledge sets policy goals and signals the village will examine code and permitting changes where authority allows.
