The Ottawa County Commission voted to adopt Resolution 26-08 to appoint Miller Carnes as the county—s emergency management director.
Miller Carnes introduced himself at the meeting: "My name is Miller Carnes. I'm the new emergency management director for, Ottawa County. I just moved from, Fort Worth, Texas working for, Dallas Fort Worth as a assistant operations officer." Commissioners welcomed Carnes and discussed immediate priorities including weather-radar/radio programming and coordinating on expected ongoing flooding response.
After the appointment motion passed, commissioners signed an appointment letter and took a photograph for county communications. Commissioners said they would work with Carnes on emergency management grant programs and the county's response plans; Carnes noted experience installing sirens and programming radios and said he looked forward to working with local staff to improve communications.
