The Keller Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval, 5‑0, of a Specific Use Permit for a 1,883‑square‑foot accessory barn to be built behind a new primary residence at 715 Barber Lane.
Staff planner Mr. Edelman told commissioners the proposed barn would be used for storage and a workspace supporting agricultural activities and that the design was intended to complement the main house. "The applicant has stated that the barn will be a fully framed and finished structure that has been designed to complement the architectural character and quality of the main home," Edelman said. He noted the proposed structure would exceed the 1,200‑sq‑ft accessory building threshold and the 15‑foot average height limit in the SF‑36 zoning district, triggering the SUP requirement. No public opposition letters were received during the notice period.
Commissioner Aaron Farner moved to approve the SUP, saying the plan was appropriate for the lot and yard; Commissioner Ross Brensinger seconded the motion and the commission voted 5‑0. The commission's recommendation will be forwarded to Keller City Council on Sept. 1, which makes the final decision.
