Local Planning Agency recommends update to Jupiter Inlet Colony 10-year water supply plan

The Local Planning Agency of the Town of Jupiter Inlet Colony recommended that the Town Commission consider Ordinance 2026-02, an update to the town's 10-year water supply plan, following a consultant presentation. Lance Lilly, senior planner with Chenmore and Associates, told the LPA that "this is a document that is required by the Florida statute" and that the ordinance would update the town's 2014 plan.

Lilly said the update responds to the South Florida Water Management District's recent Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan revision, which the presentation noted was approved on 09/23/2024. "Local governments are required to update their water supply plan within 18 months of the South Florida Water Management District" update, Lilly said, creating a March 2026 local deadline. He told commissioners the town does not operate its own water-treatment facility and relies on the Village of Cuesta for water service; Cuesta's supply data was used to inform the update.

The presentation summarized the plan's sections — statutory background, population projections and maps, potable water level-of-service, water supply and treatment, capital improvements and a comp-plan amendment shown as tracked changes — and described the review process. Lilly said the LPA's recommendation would be followed by transmittal to Florida Commerce (the state planning agency), SFWMD, county agencies and the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council for comment; if agencies submit comments, the plan would return for a second LPA reading before final adoption.

After no questions from commissioners, a motion to recommend approval on first reading was made and approved by voice vote; the transcript records verbal "Aye" responses but does not include a full roll-call in the record. The item will be considered next by the Town Commission.
