"Essentially, what it is is if you are a veteran and you are building a fence or doing something in your home or on your property that is your primary residence... I'm asking that the permit fee for veterans be waived," the chair said. Council directed staff (Mark and Connor) to draft the necessary language and verification steps (title-holder verification and military discharge or active-status documentation), with the aim of considering the item by Veterans Day.
The council made a motion to proceed; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Final adoption will require a subsequent ordinance and formal vote.
