Parks staff told the council that the recent storm caused approximately $30,000 in damage, concentrated at Chesterton Park where the main park building and the pavilion sustained damage. Parks (speaker 13) said fencing at Wascam Park also needs repair and several mature trees will be removed for safety.
"Approximately $30,000 in damage, mainly at some structures at Chesterton Park there, the main park building, and the pavilion there sustained some damage as well," parks staff said. The parks department thanked street crews, engineers, building and police staff, and community volunteers who helped with cleanup.
Staff said damage could have been worse and expressed optimism the town can recover quickly; the council offered thanks to departments and community volunteers for assisting with initial cleanup.
