Brackett ISD receives Zier solar payment; district to use funds for fleet and maintenance

Business-office staff informed trustees that the district has received a delayed Zier solar payment that had been scheduled for late January. The board heard that the full scheduled payment was $845,341, but a previously approved board deferral of $81,982 reduced the immediate net to $763,359; staff said the district also expects a customary Article 6 supplemental payment of $54,000. In addition, the district received an interest payment of $57,215.
"We were scheduled to receive $845,341 ... the board did approve on November 18 for a deferral payment of $81,982, leaving us the $763,359 plus our Article 6 supplemental of the $54,000," the staff presenter said, adding that the district had just received the funds the first week of March. Staff said they had set aside money for maintenance and fleet purchases and will now begin the procurement process for vehicles and maintenance items.
Trustees called the news "very good" in the meeting discussion and staff said the previously discussed amendments and allocations had already been provisionally recorded by the business office.
