Board members spent the opening portion of the March 10 Brackett ISD Board of Trustees meeting recognizing students, staff and community volunteers who supported district athletics and campus operations.
A board member introduced the 2024 Tiger football recognitions and called players and coaches to the stage; the board read first- and second-team offense and defense selections and named offensive and defensive MVPs. "One district, one team, one community," a staff speaker said in closing the recognitions.
The board also presented Jones Elementary monthly outstanding employee awards. Mr. Miller introduced Maja Edwards and Diana Flores and praised their reliability and long hours providing student interventions and resource-room support, saying the campus "cannot have enough people that are reliable." Secondary campus recognitions highlighted Jackson Abbey, a first-year CTE teacher who leads welding instruction and supported students at local stock shows, and Gabriela Garza for her work with ag and middle-school labs.
Board members singled out community "Football Heroes" — volunteers who helped with water heaters, chain‑gang duties, press‑box support, field maintenance, photography and charter travel — and thanked donors whose contributions eased travel and facility costs. The recognitions drew applause from the room and set the meeting tone before business items began.
