Council approved the purchase of a Bobcat L28 articulated loader (quote MB639885) to increase public-works capacity for downtown snow removal, catch-basin maintenance, and paving preparation.
Public Works Director Bill Covell said the Bobcat "will fit on any of the ADA Ramps and sidewalks within the city." He said the department will use the machine for downtown snow removal, cleaning catch basins, and cleaning roads prior to paving. City Manager Darin DeHaan noted business owners will still be expected to help remove snow downtown; Covell added the equipment was budgeted and placed in front of City Hall for anyone to try.
Council approved the purchase on unanimous roll call. The transcript does not include a purchase price beyond the quoted identifier MB639885; the exact dollar amount was not specified on the record.
