Fire chief reports Station 92 planning progress, mutual aid response and an on-duty death honored

Chief Spencer updated the council on Station 92 and recent department activity.
"Station 92, the progress is coming along," he said, reporting a contractor and architect are on board and noting recent meetings to finalize floor plans and detailed equipment needs. He said discussions with UDOT about truck access were proceeding and that, while paperwork remains, verbal conversations suggested no major obstacles.
The chief also reported a recent residential structure fire in which firefighters effected a quick knockdown and two homeowners were temporarily displaced; mutual aid came from neighboring jurisdictions. He said a firefighter-EMT who had fought cancer died just before Christmas and described planned vigils and funeral arrangements coordinated with Payson and nearby communities.
Councilmembers thanked the department for its response and for keeping the council informed of both the project timeline and recent emergency activity.
