City survey shows steady sentiment; downtown ratings improve, cost of living concern rises

Ron Gailey of OnPoint Insights told the council the 2025 sample and historical comparison are "nearly identical to 2022," and that residents generally feel the city is going in the right direction: "Most people feel you're going the right direction." He demonstrated filters for demographics and geography, noted that downtown perceptions have improved compared with 2022, and said cost of living and budget management have grown in importance.
Gailey showed that the dashboard contains thematic summary and free-text comment filters (about 925 appreciative comments and 774 other comments) and department ratings that can guide council priorities. He suggested the council use the top-ranked priorities in developing the upcoming budget and schedule further review and a retreat to consider the results.
