Moore Haven approves Brownfields site reuse proposal to close expiring grant

The Moore Haven City Council voted June 16 to approve the South Florida Regional Planning Council/Terracon Brownfields site-specific reuse Proposal No. PJU257097 so the city can complete work required to close out an existing Brownfields grant.
City Manager Larry Tibbs told the council the grant that funded Brownfields studies was issued in 2021–2022 and is due to expire on September 30, 2026; he said the city can amend the agreement to focus on two or three properties of interest. Tibbs said properties that already had level 1 and 2 work completed in-house will be inspected, not fully re-done.
Council member Alisha Beck moved to approve the SFRPC/Terracon proposal; RaShonda Croskey seconded the motion and it carried. The action is framed as meeting grant closeout requirements and preserving the ability to pursue additional study funding in Glades County.
