Zoning Board OKs garage variance for Lake Street property

Tom Johns, chair of the Sodus Point Zoning Board, opened consideration of an area variance for 8297 Lake Street on Feb. 10, 2025. Matt Nowak, speaking for the applicant, said the proposal would replace an existing footprint with a larger garage; he noted the house had been moved in 1974 and the neighboring house sits on the property line. The board heard no public comment and members characterized the application as straightforward.
Sue Bassage said "the case makes good sense and is understandable," and Lynn Carlyle agreed before moving to accept the application as written. The motion, seconded by Sue Bassage, passed unanimously. Voting record in the minutes shows Tom Johns, Lynn Carlyle, Sue Bassage and Steve Nesspor all voted in favor.
