Planning Board approves modified L‑shaped dock at 8538 Gardenier Lane; Zoning Board review required

Anthony Elwood presented a preliminary site‑plan for a 62‑foot L‑shaped dock at 8538 Gardenier Lane. The proposal would extend 62 ft from shore where 60 ft is typically allowed and in places would place the L 7 ft from property lines where 10 ft is required. Board members and neighbors discussed congestion, future uses and winter ice; Elwood described the dock as intended to provide a safe swimming area for his grandchildren and said the Army Corps of Engineers had reviewed the plan.
Neighbor correspondence submitted to the board showed support for a reduced L width: in one email Bob Mills wrote, "I have no problem with Tony putting in a permanent dock. I'm hoping to do so some day also." After discussion about moving the dock slightly west and trimming the L, the board approved a dock 62 ft from shore with a minimum of 10 ft clearance from the east and west sides of the L. Bruce Evener noted the proposal will also require Zoning Board review.
